"the art within you"
Descendent from a well known French family of artists from the 18th and 19th century, Ursula was always inspired to create, but too modest to show.
The Vernet Family is known through three generations of famous painters.
Claude-Joseph Vernet (1714-1789) was the leading French landscape painter (with Hubert Robert) of the later 18th century. He achieved great celebrity with his topographical paintings and serene landscapes. He was also one of the century's most accomplished painters of tempests and moonlight scenes. His works are mainly exposed in the Musée de la Marine, Paris as well as the Louvre and worldwide.
Carle Vernet (1758-1835) was in his own time known primarily as an exceptional painter of horses in full movement, either racing, hunting or in cavalry portraits. Vernet received a conventional artistic education from his father, Claude-Joseph Vernet. In 1782 he won the highly coveted Prix de Rome, and in 1808 Napoleon awarded him the Legion of Honor for one of his battle scenes
Horace Vernet (1789-1863) a French painter of vast battle panoramas, notably those in the Gallery of Battles at Versailles.
The family was connected through marriage to several other notable French artists and their paintings are known worldwide. Paul Delaroche (1797-1856), another celebrated painter, married Horace Vernet’s daughter Louise.
Ursula inherited not only this artistic name, but also some expressive DNA, and her works evolve adapted to our times.
